Comedy magic vs stand-up comedy
2 November 2026

Both get booked when a room wants to laugh. They are not the same job, and one does not replace the other.
Stand-up
One person and a microphone. The jokes are written before the room arrives. The crowd listens. A good comic can hold a silence, and can say the thing a company will not put on a slide. The risk is the line. A joke about the boss, the city or the industry either lands, or it sits there until the next one. A corporate room is not a comedy club. Nobody bought a ticket to be roasted, unless the brief said so.
Comedy magic
The laugh comes from a guest who did not plan to be on stage. A name, a number, a choice. The room is in the show, and that is the joke. The risk is different. If the guest freezes, the performer has to carry them. If the piece is mean, it is not comedy.
What to book
Book a comic when the brief is a point of view.
Book a comedy mentalist when the brief is participation. Laughter, and a moment people take back to the table. An evening can hold both. Plenty of companies do.
Magic Mangesh is the second booking. Mind-reading, mentalism and comedy, with the guests in it, and nothing a board has to apologise for on Monday. The corporate show is built for that room.
